Doulos Comes To Town Again

The historic Bookship Doulos has made her return to Malaysia this month after her earlier trip to Cambodia. The ship is docked at the Kota Kinabalu port of Sabah for about ten days. We folks of course have the opportunity of visiting this onboard book fair each time when she makes her round here.

The ship is well known for its mission navigations around the world particularly in spreading the Word of God asides from the massive variety of christians books ( book exhibition ) the crew and staff also participate in certain practical assistance deeds such as providing medical aids, building schools and renovating orphanges in the developing regions of the world, among others.

It's amazing to know that of the 300 or more crewmembers on board, they actually make up of 50 nations worldwide, with one primary objective in common, ie: each one has chosen to live as a follower of Jesus Christ. They have come a long way to commit a meaningful journey, to face the challenge, to be motivated in terms of serving God and the port communities they visit. They bring along Hope to the needy and care for the helpless regardless of who they are. This is truly a God's way of showing love for the less fortunate.

I got a chance to talk with some of the vibrant young people from Canada and Switzerland and Taiwan and learnt that they are volunteers to serve on board as a practical expression of their christian faith and the life on board is never dull or lonely. With 300 members working together, sharing and learning , nobody will feel empty. It is this kind of commitment they carry with them to witness the Love of God wherever they sail to a port, it is as exciting for them because there is bound to be good deeds awaiting them to perform.

With this , I sincerely wish the whole crew of members a blessed and fruitful journey . They are on their way to Singapore after this.
