The Richest Man Is the Happiest Man. You Can Be One If You Know How

According to Forbes, Bill Gates comes No.1 and Warren Buffett No.2, so to say. Basically, the impression of the rich people, as in the eyes of the laymen, must be that of successful, prominent and important figures of world stature, not only packed with countless massive fortune but also the envy of the eyes. Everything is beautiful in their gardens, to top it up! But one time, one man claimed he was the richest and happiest man in the world. As you know, news travels ! His words quickly spread around the small town where he lived, even the Director of the Income Tax Department heard it. Without delay, the director sent a Representative to visit the richest man in the hope of making a levy on his wealth and property, accordingly.

Rep : I heard you are very rich ?

Man : That's right, I am very rich.

The representative swiftly took out a pad and pen from his case and said , " If that's the case, I must make an evaluation of your properties. May I know what properties you have ? "

The man answered, " I am healthy. A healthy body is worth a fortune. "

The Rep asked again, " Other property ? "

The man answered, " I have a good wife. A good wife is more precious than a diamond. "

The Rep said, " Good for you. What other property do you have ? "

The man answered, " Yes, I have a few healthy and obedient children. I feel that I am wealthy to have such wonderful children. "

The Rep asked, quite impatiently, " Anything else that you still have ? "

The man answered, " I have some good old friends. They are true and helpful. My life is simple and easy but I enjoy every minute every second of my life. All these I consider very precious properties I have. "

Then the Rep asked, " So, do you have any bank savings or realty asset ? "

The man smiled , " No. Apart from what I have told you just now. I have nothing. "

By then the Rep gathered up his pad and pen and said to the man , " You are indeed the richest and happiest man in the world. Theft-free, snatch-free and even tax-free. "

With that, he thanked the man for his time and walked away.

Quite a striking contrast between the Forbes riches and this man's outlook on a rich life.

You may be rich but you may not be truly happy and content on the inside whereas you may be not very rich yet you may be very content and happy and that's a blessing !

As of late, I start to believe that money cannot buy all the happiness and the rich are not all that happy. In fact, they have more headaches than the average rich. Trust me !

A man just moved in to a larger house with his family cheats on his wife by going out with another woman. His wife is a sexy beauty but the 3rd party is just an ordinary woman. Has something gone astray ? Why did he not cheat on her when they were still struggling to make both ends meet some years back ? Why do people live in a comfortable home but unhappy ?

A truly happy life has to have God's promises of Grace and you believe in Him to help you along the way. It may take a while you got to be patient and walk the talk. Be content with little you receive and it will increase gradually. Learn to share and give generously !

Hilda Cang, good article with good thoughts.

I agree that you need money to meet the basic requirements of home, clothing, food, and health and to improve family life, as your mind. But the money is not sufficient to achieve happiness . It is short-lived pleasure in the physical life. Fear of loss leads to unhappiness. True happiness is in the mind of the person who is willing to adapt and live the same life in recession. Continue to express the arrogance, while having greater wealth is spoiling own happiness.

Hi Gaurav, thanks for reading and sharing some thoughts of yours as well. I agree that money is practically important in everybody's life. No one can do without money but money is not ALL . Both physically and spiritually must come to terms if you want to be truly happy and content.

God bless you !

I couldn't agree with you more Hilda. Money , although it can make things more comfortable at times, CANNOT promise you happiness. Well said Hilda!

Hi Bob, thanks for your comment and the time. Being rich and happy may sometimes be as simple as this. Don't have to have the world yet live richly and happily. The concept of the mind is more important than the materialism demand.

God bless you !

I think it's true what you say, Hilda, we have very stereotyped ideas of how "wonderful and easy" life is for wealthy people. But I think we also don't realize what they've had to do to accumulate that wealth, and how much energy it takes to keep it. Without a doubt true wealth lies within our hearts.

Thank you for your comment Jennifer. This is an awakening lesson yet mankind have ignored to take heed of . Not a few sentences can be elaborated on. But you said it well : true wealth lies within our hearts.

Perfect. The balance that Americans need. It is our hearts that get overwhelmed with worry. It is not that we desperately want to be rich. But we sure could use more of your wonderful thoughts. Good job.

Hi Christofer, your comment is wonderful and I too, agree that it's our hearts that get burdened with worry (greed) for money so most of time, people are not happy when their target not reached. I think this is a serious problem.

Finally you found it, Steve. Thanks a million for reading .

Being rich can actually be how you want it to be. If your wallet is full but your heart is empty. Can you say you are 100% happy ?
