Help ! Why Am I Slurring Words Lately ? Is It A Sign Or A Symptom ?

The other day, barely the other day, I carelessly left a small towel on the TV table in the living room. The minute my daughter walked in and her eyes must have caught on that piece of slightly dampish stuff , my face towel.
"What's that thing ?" She asked me.
"What's wrong with you, mother ?" She knitted her brows.
However, I admit, on one recent occasion, I blurted out "washing room" when it should be "changing room " while we were shopping in the department store together with our two years old granddaughter, Shantelle. Shan loves exploring things like any other growing up kids do especially at the shopping complexes. This is one of the headaches when we bring her out nowadays. She is like a bird out of a cage and gets wild but we always keep her under control though. For example, if we want to browse around in the ladies department, she will help herself directly to the changing room or fitting room to look herself in the long tall mirrior or simply play with the door lock.
" Keep your eyes on her, Michelle. Don't let her go in the "washing room". I told my daughter.
My husband couldn't help laughing at my saying "washing room" . What washing room ?
Think before you leap. He always gives me these 4 little reminders.
Here is a story :
Three good old friends were going to the railway station but the train had gone by the time they reached there. Since it's still an hour more to wait for the next train , they decided to kill the time at the nearby restaurant and so they ordered food and drinks and chit chats and they got so much to talk until they almost forgot their time was up . When they realized it, all three of them just grabbed the luggage and rushed as quickly as possible to the station . They saw the train had already started moving slowly.
The three friends were hurriedly catching on along the railway platform and the two guys in the front were running faster and they somehow managed to jump up in the last carriage successfully whereas the third guy just didn't make it due to his heavy baggage he was carrying. Too bad, the train lost him.
Helplessly as could be, he was looking at the two friends on board the train moving on , leaving him behind. But, suddenly, he lost control of himself, he was laughing out loudly.
The man on duty at the railway station was puzzled. " why are you laughing when you just missed your train ?"
" You know, my two friends who got on the train were actually here to see me off but now they are going where nobody knows ! " chuckled the 3rd guy.

Great story, Hilda! Years ago when Jean and I first moved to Texas we decided that we would use both positive and negative re-enforcement in our speech, to break ourselves of the habit of speaking 'Yankee' and to encourage each other to say things like a real Texan would say them. It worked well, but now, like your husband, we feel compelled to call out each other when we say something silly. One day someone left the refrigerator door wide open. I have no idea how long it was like that, but the energy-efficiency freak in me called out to my kids "what is this door doing oping?!"Of course Jean jumped in saying, "Oping? What is this door doing oping?" No one in my family has taken me serious ever since! (Slight exaggeration.)Fun article! Thanks Bruce for this little touch-up. I know how it's all about = been there, done that.
Yesterday while driving past the junction, I saw a U and I said, "there's a YOUTUBE" again this caused quite a stir. I said to Shantelle , " come in the house otherwise the BUTTERFLIES will bite you. It should be the MOSQUITOES" !
It all means a humor ( I am still very alert, mentally )
Cute story Hilda! I sometimes mix my words at the worst times. I appreciate the smiles and laughs :-) Blessings to you!I agree with you Teresa, to mix up words at times. We humans are quite absent-minded every now and then especially when we get so busy.
Blessings to you too !
That is way too funny....Hahaha...DM, you know me, right ?
Just shows how invasive Facebook is, Hilda! Wrong words often come out of my mouth. I'm just hoping that one day I'll actually get used to it and start enjoying the look of puzzlement on people's faces! Problem is, most people get embarrassed, which just makes me embarrassed too :)Your story is hilarious!!You are so cute to say that the other way round about slurring.....
Now I know I am really not alone in the world. Haha ....
Very funny Hilda and to put your mind at ease it happens to all of us. (I hope) Great article! Thanks for your great comment and every normal human being slurs once so often. Luckily that doesn't quite affect our writing though.LOL !
