That Other Woman, That Other Man, Other Children

If you are a reader of Bernhard Schlink , you may have read one of his stories titled : The Other Man whereby a man whose wife had kept from him her affairs or rather, encounters with the other man throughout their marriage only to be discovered shortly after her death.

Recalling myself acting as "tutor" over the years, I was somehow made available (in a position) to be easily lending an ear here or offering a shoulder there whenever the situation led to, regardless of who as long I was there for them. In fact, I was more than willing to deliver a box of Kleenex at the right time, sometimes instantly or to draw near the waste basket with one leg from under the table for them to trash in their used moistened tissues.crying

But, you want to tell us about that other woman ? Yes. To make a long story short, that other woman is involved in this other woman's life because she has become the mistress or the unofficial second wife of this other woman's husband and the problem is this other woman is not the least aware of her husband's extra marital affairs. She even praises him as the best of the best man she has ever known.

" My husband seldom goes out at night. He is such a homely man and likes to play with the kids. "

Ok. A man who doesn't go out at night doesn't mean anything whereas a man goes out at night doesn't mean something either.

Poor little woman ! Seeing her innocent smile so faultless, who wants to spill the beans to spoil her happiness ? Perhaps, let it be this way as long as can be.

Meanwhile, that other man has purchased an apartment for that other woman. He sees her during his lunch breaks almost every afternoon and they have so far had two children.

He doesn't have to go out when he gets back because he is a homely man.

Yeah, those homely men might be motivated to mischief BY their homeliness. Why ascribe all kinds of unholy ambitions to good looking men. Handsomeness doesn't necessarily mean mischief. Good article.

HI Hilda. Good points, what do you do in this situation? Should we be the ones to break the bad news? Mischief doesn't only happen at night - and sometimes not even behind closed doors. Blessings to you! Teresa

So right, Teresa. To be the busy one spreading the bad news surely lands you with some aftermath responsibility. Be the 4th party is really hard. Keep our eyes closed may give you some peace .

Mischief happens anytime anywhere so beware !
