New Year's Resolutions = To Make Or Not To Make ??

Very often, before 31st December, on a yearly basis, 2 people out of 3 would say they have a New Year's Resolution they would like to make and somehow hope to be able to accomplish, to mark a new beginning of a new year with new plans, new desires for personal goals or a change of direction or project towards a different perspective from the previous year, making it an improved change of life or a better person that they so want it to be, for their own good.
Obviously, a lot of people make their new year's resolutions like anything in the beginning yet end up nothing. What use is it if the resolutions cannot be fulfilled ? Don't make promises you can't keep. It is only building castles in the air, after all.
A girlfriend offered me to read a book she was reading half way through. I took a look at the title = DARE TO FAIL. I thanked her and said, " I can't afford to fail anymore and I hate it if I fail. " To me, to fail means no fun. I don't enjoy failures. Failures are costly and time consuming. It is better to be smart and do only the right things if I could.
However, I think it's encouraging to make new year's resolutions based on one's needs and views personally, if you don't take them for granted, resolutions can be accomplished with determination.
Ironically, come what may, I am a carefree person without a resolution to do something or not to do anything.

Thanks for your time, David, always.
Very refreshing and honest, Hilda! I guess people don't stick to their resolution because they think they only have to make it once and magically their lives will change. It's not so, you have to make it every day! Keeping resolutions is hard work! That's right, Jennifer. I think resolutions should be carried out daily, weekly and monthly. That way, we will find we can maintain whatever we plan to do.
