One Of My Unusual Days With Someone Unusual

Seems that there's always some unusual days that mixed along with some unusual happenings in my life even as an adult, unusual things could still happen unexpectedly on a normal day, lucky or unlucky, but no matter what or how, life goes on. I believe, living (itself) is already an unusual term of life and writing with WS is also an unusual chance that I have thus far come by and I am loving it like MacDonald's.

Some ladies have written their stories about giving birth, having kids, being born into the world was their unusual day of the events that I think was really great. Well, I remembered an incident some years back while our daughter was still studying in the local high school which was considered one of the elite schools in town meaning to say the school has a name for its outstanding performance not only academically but also well disciplined of students. They have enforced rules and regulations that students must obey or at least, should obey and if found against such rules, the disciplinarian would instantly call up the parent to come forward and have a talk.

On the morning of that day, was it a Tuesday or Thursady ? but that's okay and  not very important if I couldn't remember it. I was just about to kick off my first cup of coffee after so much volunteering work half the morning for the family, the phone rang and I picked it up. I knew something had gone terribly wrong with my 14 years old girl this time at school. They wanted to see me or the father if possible. Without delay, I rushed to the school, found my way into the Visitor's room, pushed open the door, I saw my girl sitting at a table along with a few others, boys and girls, but surprisingly, I saw someone also there, well-groomed and his usual self, confident and an in-charge demeanour of his pattern. He was the respectful and disciplined pastor of our church.

" What ......"  he opened his mouth, slightly embarrassed and I shook my head eyeing at my daughter and his son. Out there came in the disciplinary teacher and followed by each one's introduction briefly then it was understood that the reason for the punishment was these students brought their cell phones to school and used them during recess which was not allowed at all.  Luckily the parents showed up so all the accused students got back the cell phones the same day but above all, including the pastor, all parents did receive a lesson worth the while as well.

I would always remember that unusual encounter with the pastor, more because of his unusual expression upon seeing me in the same visitor's room.

Wow, Hilda. It must have been a mighty shock at first - I mean not knowing more detail when you were called into this meeting. Then going into the meeting and finding the pastor there. What exactly was the purpose of the pastor? Really, the pastor for cell phones being brought and used in school? My goodness, isn't that harsh. Well, I guess the pastor was there because his son also brought and used the phone! I can just imagine what went through your mind at first.

Suffice it to say that there are countless worse things. So I'm happy for you that this unusual event was for the phone. I'm sure that after a solid talking to, your daughter did not repeat her offense. It also seems to me that she was never brought up for discipline before and this probably rattled both of you. I have a sneaky feeling that lots of kids break this rule. Not that it makes it OK but it might have been more unusual and much worse.

Here again, Hilda, we didn't have this sort of thing when my kids were younger. They hadn't even invented cell phones yet. Wew!

Oh Gray Mare, great you knew what I was writing about. To say the least, son of the pastor and farmer's daughter, what do they have in common ? Kids like to do silly things breaking the rules and caused the parents trouble to claim them back.

5 years from now, yes, there were cell phones and she didn't repeat her misdeed.

Thank you for your time and such a long kind comment, Gray Mare.

e hugs...

My first thought was that your daughter and his son were caught kissing in the corridor or something!! Well, it just shows, doesn't it, that children will be children, no matter whether their parents are pastors or not!

If caught kissing then it would be a bigger punishment I think. Although the school has its good reputation but with over 2000 students, you can imagine it's not easy to keep watch over every move of every student. I heard some boys and girls do hold hands during recess time.

Pastor's kids are actually more naughty. lol
